Senior Family Law Litigation Attorney

The ideal candidate will have 5 or more years of litigation experience, be confident in the courtroom, and possess a strong working knowledge of Michigan court procedures and the rules of evidence. This role requires the ability to independently manage an active caseload from day one.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a full caseload of family law matters from intake through resolution
  • Attend and lead in-person and virtual hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials
  • Meet with clients and prospective clients to assess legal needs and provide clear, strategic guidance
  • Draft and review pleadings, motions, discovery, briefs, settlement agreements, and judgments in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepare cases for trial, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and development of direct and cross examinations
  • Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel while advocating for favorable client outcomes
  • Develop case strategies that are ethical, effective, and cost-conscious for clients
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy and litigation efforts

Qualifications

  • Active member in good standing with the Michigan State Bar
  • 5+ years of litigation experience required; family law litigation experience preferred
  • Demonstrated courtroom confidence, including strong oral advocacy skills and the ability to think on your feet
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking abilities
  • Strong written communication skills, including drafting pleadings, motions, and legal briefs
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently while maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Effective communicator with the ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues, opposing counsel, experts, and court personnel
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and committed to a strong work ethic
  • Adaptable team player with a growth mindset and willingness to support and mentor others as needed
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands

Pay

$100,000 – $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Work days

Weekdays, Weekends as needed
