Shon A. Cook

Shon Cook is passionate about the law and dedicated to helping clients achieve the best possible outcomes. With more than 30 years of experience, she has represented individuals in nearly every area of law. Over time, her focus has evolved toward helping families through life’s most challenging transitions.

Today, Shon practices exclusively in family law. She handles complex and high-asset divorces, custody and parenting time disputes, spousal support, guardianships, and both prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. She is also highly skilled in collaborative law and mediation, which allow clients to resolve disputes with less stress and more control over the outcome.

Her philosophy is simple: use the power of the law to make a meaningful, positive difference in people’s lives. Through this approach, Shon combines strong advocacy with compassion and strategy, guiding clients toward practical, long-term solutions that truly fit their goals.

In addition to her legal practice, Shon is a respected speaker for the State Bar of Michigan and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE). She frequently trains attorneys and judges across Michigan on key topics related to family law and asset division. Because of her expertise and clear communication style, she is often sought out to provide insight and continuing education for other legal professionals.

Outside her practice, Shon stays deeply involved in the community. Over the years, she has coached youth soccer, softball, and basketball throughout the Whitehall area. She has also raised three children, owned three law firms, and completed three marathons—a personal “trifecta” that reflects her drive and determination both in and out of the courtroom.
