Teresa Mendez

Paralegal

Teresa is a Paralegal at Tabono Law with over 15 years of extensive experience in the legal field. Her background includes working in various law firms, handling indigent defense with the Public Defender’s Office, and serving at a nonprofit legal aid organization dedicated to assisting individuals living at or below the poverty line. Teresa’s expertise spans multiple practice areas, including family law, housing, criminal law, personal injury (both plaintiff and defense), trust/will/estate planning, public benefits, consumer/debt, and workers’ compensation.

In August 2023, Teresa relocated from the scenic mountains of Prescott, Arizona, to Western Michigan to be closer to her daughter and two grandchildren. Originally from Southern California, her extended family continues to reside there.

Teresa is also a full-time college student at Western Michigan University, where she is a second-semester junior pursuing a major in Justice Studies and a minor in Gender & Women’s Studies.

Outside of work, Teresa enjoys spending time with her daughter and grandchildren, cycling, skating, hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, playing disc golf and golf, attending music festivals, and traveling. She is also an active volunteer with Family Futures in Grand Rapids, a nonprofit that supports parents of young children in fostering their development and success.
